Holidays in the Portes du Soleil

Our apartments are privately owned second homes with south facing balconies or terraces overlooking the village of Châtel. The regular free ski bus stops just outside.

Your apartment is your home from home for the week. Comfortable and well-equipped with a small oven, hotplates, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery with a pleasant eating area and sitting room, your apartment is the ideal place to relax and admire the sunset after a wonderful day’s skiing. For those evenings when you prefer to eat out we are happy to reserve a table for you at one of the local restaurants. We can provide transport to the thermal baths for those without a car

A typical 2 room apartment has a double bed, bunk beds and a double convertible in the living room.  The 3 room apartment might have a large living room with double convertible and 2 double bedrooms. 

Blankets or duvets and pillows are supplied. If you are travelling by car you may prefer to bring your own bed-linen or we will supply linen at a charge of £10 per person to cover laundry costs. We require a cheque for £100 damage deposit (£200 for chalets), supported by a cheque guarantee card, on arrival 

Your apartment is available for occupation from four o’clock on Saturday afternoon and you are asked to leave by 10 o’clock on the following Saturday morning leaving it clean and tidy. On request we can arrange to clean your apartment for you for a reasonable fee. If you have travelled overnight hoping to ski on the Saturday you are welcome to change and leave luggage in our chalet until your apartment is ready.

Ski and Snowboard School

There are six ski schools in Châtel. We recommend Ski Surf École International which tends to have smaller groups and all their instructors speak English. There is a choice of group or individual lessons. A week's course of group lessons, three two and a half hour sessions plus one day, 9h - 17h, costs €118 for adults. A course of five lessons for children from 6 years old costs €120. Private lessons are available. We make your reservations and accompany you to meet your instructor on your first morning.

Off Piste and Glacier Skiing is available with Jean Ives, high mountain guide and ski instructor. 

Les Marmottons specialises in catering for children from 3 to 6 years on a daily or half-daily basis. Courses begin on Sunday afternoon. Advance reservation is essential in high season. Details and booking form on request. Six days instruction, with lunch and lift pass: €200.

Ski and Board Hire 

Ski Rosie clients benefit from advantageous reductions on top quality rental equipment. We accompany you to the shop to ensure you receive the best service and we are there to help should you need to exchange during the week. Lift Passes

• The PORTES DU SOLEIL (PDS) pass covers all the lifts in all the resorts of the Portes du Soleil.

• The CHÂTEL pass covers all the lifts of Châtel as far as Morgins, Torgon and the border with Avoriaz.

• The CHÂTEL five days non-consecutive (dnc) pass enables you to take a day off during the week or to take a Portes du Soleil pass for one day when you wish to explore further afield.

•  Please add a returnable € 3 for your electronic card. If you order in advance we will have your pass ready for you on arrival. Juniors 16-22. Seniors from 60 years.

Travel and Insurance 
Flights - Contact Satellite Travel for their latest prices, telephone 020 8643 3666, stating that you are a Ski Rosie client or contact Easyjet or one of the other budget airlines by telephone or Internet.

Transfers - We arrange your transfer to Morgins from Geneva Airport. Price guide: €130 each way with two people travelling, €150 for five, €172 for six, €189 for 7, €241 for eight. The train, every half hour straight through from Geneva to Aigle, where we will collect you, costs Fr.68 return. Zurich to Aigle changing at Lausanne costs Fr.154

Train - Eurostar routes through Lille and Dijon and the overnight ski train from Brussels to Aigle in the Rhône Valley.

Routes - Detailed advice on recommended routes from Calais to Châtel will be sent to you with your final details two weeks before departure. The shortest route is about 550 miles and takes under nine hours.

Insurance - As a tour operator we are required to ensure that our clients carry appropriate insurance for their holiday. We recommend Snowcard Winter Sports Insurance, which includes off-piste skiing and snowboarding, search, rescue and repatriation.
